Polish Club Presidency Project seeks community involvement

19 May 2021 11:11 AM | Anonymous

As part of ongoing efforts to record and archive the history of their club, the Polish American Citizens Club is embarking on a project to compile the dates of service for all those who have served as club president.

“This project came about after we started doing more research in preparation for our 80th anniversary gala in September 2019,” says club secretary Erica Manczuk Stocks.  “As we started to delve deeper and deeper into the history of our club, we realized that we didn’t have a very comprehensive list of people who served as president.  As an organization, we felt it was important to preserve and honor our history, our leaders, and our place in the Polish-American community of Massachusetts."

Through newspaper articles, obituaries, and conversations with former members, the club was able to put together a preliminary list, but there is still lots of missing information. The club is hoping that members of the Polish diaspora of New England can help fill in the missing pieces.

"The officers and directors have been working very hard to ensure the future of the club so that it can continue to serve the community for decades to come. We acknowledge how important our past is, and want to make sure it is properly reflected moving forward." says Peter Dziedzic, club treasurer.
